Christchurch United U10, U13 and U14 Regional Tournaments conclude

Regional Tournaments for three of Christchurch United’s junior teams wrapped up last week in what was a beautiful week of weather to play football.
Our Christchurch United Under 10 Nelson team competed out in Rolleston where they performed excellently all weekend to claim third place, beating Nomads 4-3 in the third place play-off.
The U10 side had a tough start to the season with some heavy defeats and showed amazing resilience and improvement over the course of the season to achieve this result. The players, coaching staff and supporters put in a huge amount of effort and the squad’s performance spoke to those efforts. We are so proud of you guys and the result, well done!
Our Under 13s also claimed third place in their tournament out at FC Twenty 11 in Avonhead. The guys drew their semi final 0-0 with Waimak in regular time before losing agonizingly on penalties, the cruelest way to lose a football match. Despite the tough loss, the guys rallied to romp past Selwyn United 6-1 in their third place play off. They played well throughout their games and were very unlucky not to reach the final. Well done team.
The Under 14s played their games at the home of Nomads United, Tullett Park. Our guys finished runner up to the hosts in a tournament with a slightly different structure than the others. There were no knockout rounds and instead two full rounds were played and then the top four played each other once each.
Despite not winning the tournament, the club is incredibly proud of the U14 team for what has been an outstanding season. The guys had 14 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in 16 games in a season where they scored 93 goals and conceded only 6. They also won this year’s Christchurch International Cup in a fantastic year of football.
Overall, Christchurch United FC is thrilled with these junior teams’ efforts throughout their tournaments and the course of the season. It’s been a great year for the junior club and club as a whole, and we thank everyone involved with all of our teams for all of the hard work and dedication. Go Blue!
