CUFC 50th anniversary weekend postponed due to Covid 19 virus

The organising committee for the Christchurch United 50th anniversary weekend regrets to inform you that we have been forced to postpone the celebrations due to the Covid 19 virus.

In the current uncertainty and restrictions around travel and public gatherings, the committee has decided that an April date is no longer realistic to organise a successful event.

We recognise and regret that this will cause significant inconvenience for former players and supporters who had already made travel plans, but we hope you can understand this decision is the only responsible option at this stage in time to protect the health of any visitors.

The committee is now looking at other dates later in the year, possibly in July, and we want to encourage everyone to keep registering their details on the website, so we can keep you informed about our plans.

The Christchurch United side that won the 1991 national league and Chatham Cup double will be among many great teams to be celebrated during the 50th anniversary gala.
As we announced earlier, the anniversary weekend will include a host of events to commemorate the great triumphs and personalities of the past 50 years, as well as multiple opportunities for old friends to reconnect and to find out what the club is up to in 2020.

The anniversary weekend will include the first official showing of the Christchurch United documentary, as well as a gala event for past and current members and supporters and a number of smaller casual gatherings.

With a later date, the anniversary weekend will also mark the launch of the Christchurch United 50th anniversary publication, which the club has been working on for the past year.

If you have any connection with Christchurch United, or you are interested in meeting some of the greatest players this country has ever produced, you do not want to miss this event.

We apologise for having to postponing the original April date, but please make sure you register so we can keep you posted.
