Christchurch United U17 and U15 teams’ regional tournament concludes

Christchurch United’s Under 17 and Under 15 teams completed their regional tournaments last week where some spectacular football was on display.

The Under 15s finished runner-up in their tournament to Cashmere Technical following a successful week of games. The way all of the players played was good to watch and they all made great accounts of themselves.
The boys were especially excellent in their games against Tasman on Day 1 and Ferrymead Bays in the semi final, winning 8-0 and 3-1 respectively. The semi-final was the team’s best display of football as they showed strong build up play and scored some great goals.
The guys played well in their final against Cashmere Technical but ultimately went down 2-1 to the deserved winners after a hard battle.

The Under 17 side finished in fifth place in their tournament with Nomads United running out as overall winners.
After a couple of poor results on the first day with an unexpected draw and loss, the boys were unable to achieve the result they were ultimately aiming for. Despite this, the players showed great resilience and played some attractive football for the remainder of the tournament.
Notable results included an 8-0 drubbing of St Bedes and a 6-0 win over Nomads. The team also wants to pay a special thanks to Oliver Colloty for joining the squad over the course of the three days.
Overall, the club is thrilled with the effort and performances of both teams. Whilst we may not have achieved the results we were aiming for, there was some beautiful football displayed and some great signs for the future. Thanks to all those who came down to support and helped out along the way. Go Blue!
