Teams will play 5 games x 20 minutes (10+10 min each way)
Calling all U9-U10-U11-U12-U13 boys and
U10, U12 girls teams
to enter this inaugural event for a fun filled day.

Clubs, schools, community groups are welcome to register a team of 5-7 players for 5-a-side games, which will be played simultaneously on 16 fields in state-of-the-art Christchurch Football Centre.

The format of this tournament is 5-a-side with a maximum of 7 players per team. This is an opportunity to form a team and have fun playing together.
This family event is created as an opportunity for young players to celebrate the winter season and showcase new skills they have learned.
We aim to welcome over 500 players, families and supporters for an unforgettable day.
We are looking forward to hosting you and wish you an enjoyable tournament.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE
Teams require to provide a referee (coach or parent) for at least 10 minutes of every match.
Team will play 5 games 10 + 10 minutes each way.
The final format will depend on actual participants
and we will publish the exact final structure here on the 3rd of September.
Play-off games – if the result is a draw at full time
then straight into penalty shootout (3 penalties, then sudden death.)
If two or more teams obtain the same number of points in pool play,
the ranking will be decided through:
· Result of the match between tied teams.
· Goal difference
· Goals scored.
· Coin toss.
KICK-INS
Kick-in that goes directly in the defensive goal is a corner kick of the opposing team.
KICKOFFS
A goal may not be scored directly from a kick-off.
The ball must be played forward first. Tapped balls are not in play – the ball must move forward.

PRIZEGIVING
After the final game of each age group.
Trophies will be awarded for the 1st place.
There will be medals for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

5-a-side football
5-a-side football is a smaller version of “the beautiful game” we are all so passionate about. It started in the UK in the 1950s when it was played by professional teams.
For the past two decades, it has been growing fast with an estimated 5 million people playing the sport regularly across the world.

Since the length of the pitch is smaller with fewer players being part of the game, you’re never far from the action. A study found that players have over 4 times the touches in 60 minutes of game time of 5-a-side than a full 90 minutes game of 11-a-side football. Due to the format, every player is more involved in the game and the focus is on the core principles of football; passing, dribbling, possession and shooting.
5-a-side football is an incredible game for developing fitness as well as lowering blood pressure and cholesterol. It’s not just about physical fitness, it also serves to be a great mental release. The dynamic nature of the game, unique puzzles - like breaking the formation, anticipating the ball and the inherent challenges associated with the game, makes it as much a mental workout as it is a physical one.
5-a-side is an all-season sport. It is almost immune to light spells of shower or sun. In fact, it is a game that can be enjoyed in the rain. Worried about the sun in your eyes? The option of playing evening football gives you the luxury of playing when the sun isn't there.
