Stevens Scores Three in Top Team Performance! Christchurch United 5-0 Dunedin City Royals

The sun was shining at United Sports Centre on Saturday afternoon as the CUFC First Team comfortably beat Dunedin City Royals.

The left flank pairing of Michael Hornsby and Joel Stevens were rampant. The Rams opened the scoring through Hornsby after just four minutes! It was the German's first goal in United blue since signing from Richmond Kickers in the US.

Stevens added his first of the afternoon and fifth of the season soon after, and then combined with Hornby just before half-time to help the left back get his second and United's third.

The Royals faced a player full of confidence in Joel Stevens in the second 45, who slotted home his second just after the hour mark. Later on, he took the ball around the Royals goalkeeper to secure his hattrick!

Our new no.9, Matthew Brazier, made his Southern League debut after returning from injury, and Matthew Duncan, another Christchurch United Academy graduate, made his starting debut.

It was another strong home performance that leaves CUFC at the top of the table, two points ahead of Cashmere Technical and Nelson Suburbs.
