Christchurch United continued their impressive unbeaten in all competitions 2023 form as they cruised to a 4-0 victory over Nelson Suburbs in round 7 of the Southern League on Saturday 6th May.

The match began with Christchurch United on the front foot, as they looked to take control early on. Their attacking intent paid off in the 31st minute when Philip scored his 11th goal of the season with a well-placed shot into the bottom corner of the net. Nelson Suburbs tried to respond quickly, but the Christchurch United defense stood firm, denying them any clear-cut opportunities.

The second half began with Christchurch United once again in the ascendancy, and they were awarded a penalty early on, which was coolly slotted home by Stokes. Nelson Suburbs tried to mount a comeback, but they were unable to break through the Christchurch United defense.

As the match wore on, Christchurch United continued to dominate proceedings, especially after a red card to Suburbs reduced them to 10 men. Christchurch were rewarded for their efforts when Philip scored his 12th goal of the season with a powerful free kick from Stokes which was cooly slotted in my Phillip. The match was all but over at this point, but Christchurch United weren't finished yet.

In the 75th minute, Daniel Meyn scored a looping goal for his first-ever Southern League goal, what a way to open his scoring in the league, putting the icing on the cake for Christchurch United. Nelson Suburbs were left shell-shocked, as Christchurch United celebrated a dominant performance and a well-deserved victory to go 5 points clear at the top of the table.

Overall, it was an impressive display by Christchurch United, who put in a complete team performance to secure all three points.
