Christchurch United VS Melville United: As It Happened

Club
Christchurch United took on Melville United in Round 5 of the National League season on Sunday afternoon. Here's how it went down.

Melville United opened the scoring in the 6th minute when they caught Christchurch United on the break.

In the 30th minute, Melville added a second, and just 5 minutes later they added a third goal to make it 3-0 after 35 minutes.

Things went from bad to worse for Paul Ifill's side when Oliver Colloty scored against his former club to finish the first half 4-0 to Melville United.

After the break in the 50th minute, Melville added a fifth goal through a brilliant strike into the top corner from a freekick just outside the Christchurch United penalty area.

But Christchurch United weren't down and out yet, because 5 minutes after Melville scored Daniel Maclennan pulled one back, and then in the 78th minute, Matt Todd-Smith struck a beautiful volley past the Melville United goalkeeper to make it CUFC 2-5 Melville United.

Christchurch United kept pushing for more goals, Noa Prestel had a volley come off the woodwork, and then Paul Ifill had a volley of his own come off the crossbar.

It wasn't the result we were hoping for but we now look forward to next Sunday 6th of November as we take on Miramar Rangers at David Farrington Park.
