Introducing the Christchurch United Football In Schools Programme: Fostering Values, Skills, and Well-Rounded Athletes

Christchurch United is excited to continue our progress in the Football In Schools Programme in 2024, aimed at nurturing young talents and instilling the core values of our esteemed club. This groundbreaking initiative offers students the opportunity to engage in one session per week over the course of eight weeks, combining football training with the development of essential life skills.

At Christchurch United, we firmly believe in taking a holistic approach to player development. Beyond honing football skills, we are committed to cultivating character, discipline, and integrity in our young athletes. The free Football In Schools Programme focuses on the six key values that define Christchurch United: teamwork, respect, determination, resilience, commitment, and sportsmanship. Each training session will incorporate one of these values, allowing students to embrace and internalize their significance both on and off the field.

Furthermore, the programme aligns with the New Zealand Health and Physical Education Curriculum, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience for all participants. By integrating the values-based football training with the curriculum, we aim to create a synergistic learning environment that enriches students' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Our dedicated and experienced coaches are passionate about nurturing young talents and creating an inclusive and supportive environment for every participant. With a wealth of expertise and a deep understanding of player development, they will guide students through engaging and challenging training sessions that promote teamwork, self-confidence, and personal growth.

We are already working with several clubs around Ōtautahi Christchurch:

  • Avonhead Primary
  • Gilberthorpe School
  • Halswell School
  • Te Kura o Matarangi Northcore School

We believe in providing equal opportunities for every child to experience the joys of football and learn invaluable life lessons through sports.
