LEAD COACH - GRASSROOTS PHASE (U4 - U8) Part-Time Role

Job Description: Christchurch United Football Club Lead Coach – Grassroots (Under 4 to Under 8)
Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Coach to oversee our Grassroots program, focusing on players aged Under 4 to Under 8. As the Lead Coach, you will be responsible for providing high-quality coaching sessions, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, and supporting the development of young players. This is a part-time position requiring 8 hours per week dedicated to coaching and an additional 2 hours per week for administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Coaching: Conduct age-appropriate training sessions for players between the ages of Under 4 to Under 8, focusing on fundamental football skills, coordination, and introducing basic game formats such as FUNino.
Player Development: Assess individual players' strengths and areas for improvement, and support their skill development and overall progress.
Team Management: Organise and manage small-sided games, ensuring fair play and providing constructive feedback to players to encourage their growth.
Mentoring and Motivation: Create a positive and inclusive environment that motivates young players, fosters their love for the game, and promotes good sportsmanship and teamwork.
Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians, providing updates on players' progress, upcoming sessions, and addressing any concerns or questions.
Administration: Dedicate 2 hours per week to administrative tasks, including session planning, equipment maintenance, record-keeping, and coordinating with the Head of Academy, Methodology.
Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience with young children, particularly in the Under 4 to Under 8 age group.
Strong knowledge of age-appropriate methods, techniques, and training drills.
A deep understanding of child development principles and the ability to adapt coaching strategies accordingly.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with players, parents, and program staff.
Enthusiasm for football and a genuine passion for nurturing the growth and development of young athletes.
Valid coaching certifications or willingness to obtain relevant coaching qualifications.
Ability to work Monday – Friday 4.00pm – 5.15pm and Saturday 9.00am – 11.15am, plus 2 hours during the week for administration tasks.
