Christchurch United wake up this morning incredibly proud of their immense efforts yesterday to get past Cashmere Technical at Garrick Park yesterday.
What a game of football it was. Two seriously quality teams giving everything they had for 120 minutes and it undoubtedly could have gone either way within that time. Both teams had good chances to win it, Tech hitting the crossbar twice in the second half, CUFC having shots from inside the box saved or seen wide. But it was penalties which decided it and thus becoming a lottery: thankfully CUFC had the winning ticket on the day.
We’d like to mention how Cashmere Technical displayed impressive graciousness in defeat and we applaud that.
Attention now turns to the English Cup on Tuesday night in a fixture against FC Twenty 11, where hours before the game CUFC will find out who we’ll face in the last 16 of the Chatham Cup.
Exciting times! #BlueIsTheColour
