Christchurch United’s preparations for the 2019 season was the hot topic within the city for many months prior to their opening fixture. The club made significant headlines when Danny Halligan was officially announced as First Team Head Coach and the subsequent arrival of several well-known MPL players.
The club have been incredibly transparent with their optimism and long-term aims for it’s reformed First Team and acclaimed Academy setup – with both starting 2019 with serious vigour. However, it’s been Halligan’s First Team who have undeniably stolen the show so far this year within Christchurch football.
From the 7 matches handed to CUFC since proceedings began on March 30th, Halligan and his squad of players & staff have delivered 7 victories, conceding just a single goal in the meantime. Whilst many of the team’s triumphs have been convincing, it would be naive to assume that winning games have been handed to them on plate; on the contrary, incredible efforts have been made by the players on-pitch and numerous staff behind closed doors.
