The Christchurch United board and staff have expressed their gratitude for Fernando Lambert’s contribution in the development of the club.
After two seasons as First Team coach at Christchurch United, the club and Fernando have agreed to part ways as the coach is seeking new opportunities in New Zealand.
Fernando arrived in New Zealand from Sydney after a successful stint at Manly United.
Christchurch United president Slava Meyn had been impressed by Fernando and his teams while attending the Sydney tournaments and recruited the Brazilian to come across the Tasman.
Academy director Colin Williamson said that Fernando had brought a high level of professionalism to the club and a unique mix of Brazilian and Australian flair to his teams. “We all enjoyed working with Fernando and we all wish him all the best for the future.”
Fernando also thanked the staff, managers, parents and players of the club for their support over the past two seasons.
“During those months, we have grown as a club and achieved so much in a short period of time,” said Fernando in his farewell Facebook post. “It is time now to say goodbye and look for another challenge in New Zealand or overseas. It is hard to leave behind so many friends but I am sure that those friendships will last forever.
“Good luck to all players and coaches for the coming years and I am looking forward of seeing some of you representing New Zealand Football in the future.”
